A ransomware attack on the agency that runs Saskatchewan's electronic health records, started when a Saskatchewan Health Authority employee opened an infected document. The privacy commissioner found at least 547,145 files containing personal or personal health information were exposed to the malware or stolen, and that it may never be known exactly what was taken. The province warned residents in December 2020.
