Personal and financial information of up to about 90,000 customers, by the banks' first estimates (about 50,000 at BMO and 40,000 at Simplii), after people claiming to hold the data demanded payment. Reports said the data included social insurance numbers, dates of birth and account details. The banks refused to pay, offered credit monitoring and said they would cover any losses.
